Anne Frank- Parallel Stories (2019)
This moving documentary, hosted by Oscar winner Helen Mirren, retraces Anne Frank’s story through the pages of her diary. Anne Frank’s life is one that has been retold multiple times, but what’s different about this documentary is that it also takes a look into the stories of five other holocaust survivors: Arianna Szörenyi, Sarah Lichtsztejn-Montard, Helga Weiss and sisters Andra, and Tatiana Bucci. Hand in hand with historians and archivists, this film invites viewers to understand this dire period of history and open the audience’s eyes to the discrimination and racism that exists to this day.
A Walk to Remember (2002)
One of the most popular and iconic chick flicks has finally made its way to Netflix. This tear-jerker tells the love story of Landon Carter (West), a rebellious and jaded high school senior and Jamie Sullivan (Moore), an innocent but headstrong reverend’s daughter. Although they are two opposite poles, they form an unlikely relationship and eventually fall for each other. Together, they go through the ups and downs of falling in love, and in the end, learn the true meaning of miracles.
Muhammed Ali is one of the most famous boxers of all time, but not a lot know about his story. Ali, starring award-winning actor, Will Smith, is a biographical sports drama film that captures ten years of Muhammed Ali’s path to becoming one of the most well-known athletes in the boxing ring. From his conversion to Islam and banishment from boxing to Ali’s historical match with Joe Frasier and winning the heavyweight title against George Foreman, this movie delves into the wins and defeats of Muhammed Ali’s life in his journey to earning his place among the greatest fighters in the history of boxing.
Karate Kid I, II and III
Even if we deny it, we all wanted to be Ralph Macchio in The Karate Kid when we were younger. This crowd favorite is one of those films that you love watching, whether you’re 15 or 50. Cool Karate teacher? Check! Awesome action scenes? double check! Luckily, this cult classic is going to be on Netflix this July! The Kissing Booth 2
The Kissing Booth fans rejoice! The movie sequel is coming to Netflix at last! In the first movie, we watched Elle and Noah’s romance come into full bloom. The sequel, set after a romantic summer together, pans in on Noah and Elle’s relationship as Noah heads onto Harvard for college, and Elle goes back to high school for senior year. Will they be able to sustain their relationship, or will the changes in their lives pull them apart? I guess you’ll have to wait and see. Joey King and Jacob Elordi reprise their roles in this most-awaited sequel, which will be out on July 24, so don’t miss it!
Umbrella Academy Season 2
If you’re an avid follower of The Umbrella Academy, you’re in luck because season 2 will be released this July! Cursed Season 1
Cursed is one of Netflix’s new releases this July. The drama web television series is a reimagining of the well-known Arthurian legend. Down to Earth with Zac Efron
Everyone knows Zac Efron as the talented theater lead slash dreamy basketball star in the Disney movie High School Musical, but Efron shows us a different side of himself in his new project. In this travel docuseries, Zac, along with wellness expert Daren Olien, fly across the globe in search of healthy and sustainable ways to live. Quoting Efron says: “We’re traveling around the world to find some new perspectives on some very old problems.” In the past, the movie star has expressed his passion for environmental issues and sustainable living, which really shows in the enthusiasm he has for his new docuseries. Warrior Nun Season 1
