As parents, we want to make sure that our kids grow up happy and healthy. This means ensuring that they stay active and are eating nutritious foods that are good for their bodies. This is well and good. But the problem, and we think all parents can agree, is that kids can be quite challenging to feed.
It’s easy enough to find healthy recipes online, but it will be a great feat to get it from your kid’s plate to their tummies. And we all know that our young ones can get really, REALLY picky at times! The solution to this problem is to create meals and snacks that are not only appealing to children but are packed with tons of nutritious ingredients. Take, for example, these Apple Donuts. They look like donuts but are actually apples with delicious toppings! Genius!
We wouldn’t go as far as to call it fooling your kids into eating fruits and veggies, but what it is using a strategy that allows your little ones to enjoy their food while making sure they get the nutrients they need to stay healthy. What can we say? We gotta get creative, right?
To help you out in your quest to make nutritious dishes that your children will love, we put together a list of healthy and delicious snacks that are great for afternoon munchies or special after-school treats. These yummy goodies are packed with wholesome ingredients and are sure to satisfy even the pickiest of kids!
1. Apple Cinnamon Fruit Roll-Ups
First up on our list of healthy and delicious snacks are these Apple Cinnamon Fruit Roll-Ups. Remember those fruit roll-up candies that you get at the store? This is exactly like that, except for the fact that these fruit roll-ups are a whooole lot healthier than the ones you buy from the store!
This sweet confection is something your kids will truly enjoy partly because it looks like candy, but mostly because of its delicious flavor. The apple and cinnamon combo? Now, that’s some top-tier stuff right there! Aside from its tastiness, it’s also a healthy snack for your little ones. Apples contain fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants, while cinnamon has effective antibacterial and antifungal properties!
The recipe for these fruit roll-ups only calls for five ingredients and has a prep time of 20 minutes. Although just a heads up, dehydrating them in the oven will take a bit of time, around three hours. So, we suggest setting aside some time to make them or doing them on your free day. It can be a bit time consuming, but we promise that the result will be worth it!

2. Lunchbox Sushi Sandwich with Turkey and Cheese
If you’re looking for something exciting to add to your kids’ lunchboxes, then this Sushi Sandwich with Turkey and Cheese will do just the trick!
Just like adults, our little ones can also get bored of the same old lunches. So, it’s always good to mix things up and try creating new dishes that our children will love. And this sandwich does precisely that! For one, it looks like sushi, which we think adds to the novelty of the snack and makes it so much fun to eat. Plus, it’s got veggies and protein, so your kids get the dose of nutrients and energy that they need for the day!
This sushi sandwich is easy and quick to make. You can even finesse your prep time by buying pre-shredded carrots and cheese for speedy sandwich making! To make this, you’ll need spinach tortilla or sandwich wrap, some cream cheese, mozzarella cheese, turkey breast lunch meat and shredded carrots.
Once you have your ingredients ready, cut the tortilla’s edges to create a square shape, and spread your cream cheese along the edges. Spread the mozzarella evenly over the tortilla, then arrange the turkey slices and carrots on top. Now, it’s rolling time! The trick is to roll the sandwich tightly and to press down as you finish, so the cream cheese “glues” the sushi sandwich together. Cut into 1/2″ slices, and there you have it! An exciting and fun lunch that your kids will absolutely adore!

3. Cauliflower Grilled Cheese
Grilled Cheese with ordinary white bread? That’s overrated. Make it a Cauliflower Grilled Cheese, and you’ve got us signed, sealed, and delivered. We’re all here for it!
When they said that this recipe would prove that bread is overrated, they weren’t lying. We don’t think we’ll ever look at a grilled cheese sandwich the same way again. You won’t either, once you try this healthy and delicious snack alternative! There are many reasons why this recipe is terrific, but one thing we love about it is that it’s a healthy and creative take on an otherwise plain and simple dish. It takes the basics of a grilled cheese sandwich, and couples it with a super nutritional component (a.k.a cauliflower), magically turning a mundane snack into a nutritious and unique treat that your kids will love!
The first step to making this grilled cheese sandwich to make the cauliflower “bread.” Put your cauliflower florets in the food processor until the texture resembles rice. Then in a bowl, combine the cauliflower, eggs, parmesan, and oregano. Mix until combined and season with salt and pepper. The next step is to create two small patties out of the mixture. This will be you “bread slices.” Fry them up in a skillet over medium heat and add in as much as cheese you want. You’ll know it’s done once the cheese gets all gooey and melty! You can even have some tomato soup on the side for the complete Cauliflower Grilled Cheese experience!

Once you’ve got your popcorn, mix the brown sugar, butter, and corn syrup in a small saucepan over medium heat. Once it’s melted, continue to stir until it darkens. OK, for this next step, you need to be extra careful. Set a bowl of ice water beside you then immediately pour the sugar mixture over the popcorn. Mix in the apricots and quickly dip your hands into the ice water and grab a handful of popcorn mixture. Shape it into a ball and place it on a lined baking sheet.
After your popcorn balls have cooled and formed, they’re now ready for munching! Remember to store them in an airtight container, so they stay fresh and yummy! Happy Snacking 😊
